How It Works
Enter the bill total
Type the full amount to split.
Assign shares
Add each person and give them a number of shares — for example 2 shares for the organizer, 1 for everyone else.
Get each person’s share
The bill is divided by the total shares; each person pays their shares times the per-share value.
Worked Example
Ana organized the dinner, so she takes 2 shares while Ben and Cara take 1 each — a 2/1/1 split of a $120 bill. That is 4 shares at $30 each: Ana pays $60.00, Ben $30.00, and Cara $30.00.
| Person | Shares | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Ana | 2 | $60.00 |
| Ben | 1 | $30.00 |
| Cara | 1 | $30.00 |
| Total | 4 | $120.00 |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use decimals for shares?
Yes. Shares can be 1.5, 2.25, or any positive number. Only the ratio matters — 2/1/1 and 4/2/2 give the same split.
What if someone should not pay at all?
Give them 0 shares. If everyone has 0 shares, the calculator falls back to an equal split so nothing breaks.
How do I pick fair shares?
Match shares to what each person got: who ate the appetizers, who ordered the expensive wine, or who spent more time at the shared house. Agree on the rule before you split.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded, stored, or shared.
